About the Role We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to provide high-level analytical and project support within a prominent Federal Government Department. This role is responsible for the oversight and enhancement of information systems used to support critical departmental functions both within Australia and across our global network.
The successful candidate will act as a primary link between business units and technical teams, translating strategic organisational needs into robust technical requirements.
Requirement Lifecycle Management: Engage with diverse stakeholders to gather, refine, and document user requirements using industry-standard techniques (workshops, interviews, use cases, and workflow analysis).
Technical Translation: Analyse complex system requirements and communicate technical specifications effectively to both developers and non-technical business users.
Project Documentation: Produce high-quality project artefacts, including business cases, risk management plans, and detailed ICT system reports.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with internal departmental branches and external service providers.
System Design & Implementation: Assist in the delivery of ICT projects by providing expertise in system design, specification, and business process mapping.
Configuration & Support: Undertake ongoing system administration and liaise with vendors to configure platforms to meet specific business requirements.
Change Management: Lead the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and "helpcard" resources to support the optimisation and adoption of new business processes.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes and enhance system functionality.
Government ICT Experience: Proven experience as a Business Analyst on significant ICT projects, preferably within an Australian Federal Government environment.
Analytical Rigour: Demonstrated ability to define clear, measurable acceptance criteria to ensure technical solutions are fit for purpose and meet business needs.
Communication Excellence: High-level verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes across all levels of a Department.
Initiative & Autonomy: A self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and prioritise results under tight deadlines.
Discretion & Integrity: A proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive or classified information.
Citizenship: Candidates must be Australian Citizens to be eligible for this role.
Security Clearance: Applicants must currently hold NV1, or NV2 security clearance (as required by the Department).
